Although it’s a dominant position, it can be extremely difficult a strong, negative fighter from the side-mount. Most of the time they will protect their neck effectively and keep their elbows pinned closely to their sides, offering few openings for the attacker.

I’ve had great success with this particular technique for countering overly-defensive postures in side-control position. Enjoy!
